We succesfully integrated solar energy technology into our composites.

In our quest to bring sustainable products to your yacht, Rondal has collaborated with Wattlab. Together we developed lightweight solar technology that will integrate into our spars and composite structures helping to deliver a clean, smart and sustainable solution to your yachts energy requirements.

Wattlab is a Dutch company developing custom solar solutions to fit a multitude of energy efficiency projects. Their innovative approach to solar energy technology created a synergy with Rondal’s engineers. It brought the two companies together to research and refine solar panels that could fit within the custom requirements of a superyacht both in efficiency and aesthetically.

The Wattlab solar technology that will grace your Rondal rigs and composite structures will be discrete, tech savvy and beautifully fitting for your bespoke superyacht.

Curious how we can design and integrate flush solar technology onto your yacht and the effects on your energy system? Get in touch and our team will be happy to discuss your custom solution.

“Together we will all work towards sustainable energy use in yachting for the better good.”

In the making is a superstructure for a 40+mtr sailing yacht new built project.
The ideal building material is carbon composite because of the weight vs. strength ratio. This provides big advantages as the weight saving in general improves performance and efficiency. Saving weight aloft, makes a significant improvement on the stability of a yacht with a lower center of gravity.

Increasingly, we see shipyards broadening their horizons on innovating their building process with composite materials on various applications. The possibilities are virtually endless while much advantages are to be gained.

What does s/y Sea Eagle II and s/y Aquarius have in common?

The industry's best Aero Package as a results of the proven partnership and close collaboration of the Rondal+Carbo-Link+Doyle team.

The tight knit way of working starts early in the design phase with an elaborate study on loadcases and naval architecture. Trough this iterative engineering process, optimum rig properties are defined.

Each partner brings to the table its unique expertise and experience, complementing eachother from their respective diciplines.
Both Doyle Sails and Carbo-Link have and extensive and equally impressive track record from the race circuit which is leveraged into each superyacht project. Such examples are Doyle's Structured Luff and Stratis technology as well as Carbo-Link's continuous solid elliptical carbon standing rigging solutions.
Rondal too, leverages over five decades of yachtbuilding experience and over twentyfive years of carbon composite spar making expertise with a singleminded focus on superyacht projects. As a building partner and systems integrator, Rondal brings together all sailing components and achieves optimization through an integrated aproach. Not only ensuring an efficient process but also resulting in an unbeatable aero package.

With joy and pride we are happy to announce that the radarmast has been delivered as a turn-key project to the Huisfit shipyard and has been installed onto yacht Broadwater.

This is where Rondal proves its value; leveraging decades of superyacht building experience as well as composite expertise, resulting in a unburdened proces for the yard as well as a high-end end product. Through a close collaboration with engineering speciliast Solico Engineering and advanced composite supplier Gurit, we ensured to realise the highest quality.

This composite structure is primarily build from carbon fibre
The weight vs. strength ratio of carbon composite provides big advantages as the weight saving in general improves performance and efficiency. Saving weight aloft, makes a significant improvement on the stability of a yacht.

Also, composite provides the designer with 'freedom of geometry', allowing for more appealing aesthetics.
Composite also has no corrosive properties and minimal thermal expansion, making it an ideal building material.

Interested? Don't hesitate to inquire about similar or other composite applications and solutions.

Sea Eagle II, the latest launched yacht by Royal Huisman has been widely covered in the media recently and is known for her impressive size and unique features. One of which is the large tender hatch on the aft deck.

This is the largest composite hatch built to date by Rondal. It measures a whopping 9 meters by almost 3,5 meters and was built entirely in carbon composite. Because of its excellent strength to weight ratio, carbon is a superb yachtbuilding material allowing for significant weight saving. In this case, saving weight on the hatch door itself, meant in turn the hydraulics could be sized down. This example shows that weight saving often trickles down in multiple efficiencies throughout the system.
Other significant advantages of composites are minimal thermal expansion, no corrosion, insulation within structure and it can be built exactly based on 3D scanning to ensure a perfect fit.

Rondal is widely recognized by the industry as THE composite expert and building partner for superyacht projects. Being a building partner, Rondal realized and delivered this as a turnkey project.
