The Rondal captive reel winch is exceptionally powerful and known to withstand very high loads. The carbon electric captive winch is both strong and lightweight, making it the ideal choice for performance-oriented superyachts where weight and speed are critical considerations. The electric winch incorporates peak shaving technology, feeding power back into the battery bank for a highly efficient onboard power system. Our Feeders work in harmony with our winches to maintain continuous line tension, ensuring a perfect coil around the drum.

A FEEDER IS DESIGNED TO
GUIDE AND TENSION THE LINE

Winches are typically located below deck with lines guided to deck exits using blocks and sheaves, maintaining tension to prevent tangling. A feeder, positioned at the deck exit, directs the line towards various components or the winch. It's designed to guide and tension the line but not to increase pulling force – that's the winch's role. Hydraulics drive the feeder wheel, with a motor connected to the main shaft. The feeder wheel is coated for optimal line friction, and pressure rollers can be adjusted via a rubber spring damper. The feeder is mounted on the ship's structure with a deck cover for protection.
